Best awards management software in 2026

Eight platforms ranked head-to-head — pricing, AI, mobile judging, Open Badges, migration cost. Half the market hides pricing behind a sales call; we flag those clearly. Refreshed .

By the Aclamos team. We built one of these (Aclamos), so we're biased — see how we picked and when not to pick us.

The short answer

  • If you want the most modern feature set (native mobile judging app, AI Show Director, Open Badges 3.0, end-to-end verifiable public voting, 0% per-entry fees, published pricing): Aclamos. Pre-launch — no enterprise track record yet.
  • If you need a 10-year incumbent with cited Fortune-500 references: Award Force. PWA-only judging, AI is private VPC.
  • If you're an association running 10+ programs on iMIS / Higher Logic: OpenWater. Per-program + per-admin-seat pricing; pricing not published.
  • If you're a foundation grant program: Submittable. Per-submission % skim on top of subscription.
  • If you're a UK / EU creative-arts indie at <100 paid submissions/yr: Zealous. £29/mo plus a per-submission skim.
  • If you're running exactly one event/year on a hard ceiling: Judgify $699/event, OR Aclamos Single Season $499/event with native judging + Open Badges and 0% per entry.

How we picked

Every claim below is sourced from three places: the vendor's own pricing page (May 2026 capture), buyer reviews on Capterra / G2 / Reddit cited inline at the bottom, and the May-2026 Perplexity Model Council research pass (Claude Opus 4.7, GPT-5.4, Gemini 3.1 Pro). The full source-of-truth matrix is at docs/COMPETITORS.md in the Aclamos repo.

We refresh quarterly — and a Claude-driven cron checks the pricing on each vendor every two weeks against the live pricing pages, flagging drift. If you spot something out of date, email hello@aclamos.app — we'll fix within a business day.

Ordering criteria, in priority: (1) feature breadth that actually ships (we don't reward glossy roadmaps), (2) pricing transparency, (3) per-entry / per-seat skim economics for the producer, (4) modern primitives — AI as a column not a bolt-on, native mobile judging, verifiable winner credentials, end-to-end verifiable public voting.

#1 Aclamos

Pricing published

Modern feature set, published pricing, 0% per entry. Pre-launch — no enterprise track record yet.

Starting price
$0 14-day trial · $79 Solo · $199 Growth · $799 Studio · From $24,000 Enterprise
Per-event fee
0% per entry · 0% per admin seat
Best for
Producers who want native mobile judging, AI Show Director, Open Badges 3.0, end-to-end verifiable public voting, and published pricing — and who don't need a 10-year incumbent's reference list.
Strengths
  • Native iOS + Android judging app with offline packets — every awards-side competitor is PWA-only
  • AI Show Director writes a full show config from a one-paragraph brief (Claude Sonnet 4.6 + Opus 4.7)
  • Open Badges 2.0 + 3.0 with Ed25519 signing — every winner gets a permanent verifiable LinkedIn-addable credential
  • End-to-end verifiable public voting (Helios-grade) with polished commercial UX — no other vendor combines both
  • Calibration scoring with z-score outlier detection
  • Published pricing across every tier
  • 0% per-entry, 0% per-seat fees
  • Spreadsheet-style bulk-edit (cited #1 OpenWater complaint)
  • Public REST API + OpenAPI 3.1 + outbound webhooks
Weaknesses
  • Pre-launch — no enterprise reference customers yet (Award Force / OpenWater have 10+ years)
  • Cloud-only — no on-prem option
  • Binary-attachment migration is Q3 2026 roadmap (CSV mapping ships today)
  • Smaller community / training resource pool than Award Force or Submittable
Verdict: Best modern feature set in the category and the only published-pricing option that includes brand + custom domain at the entry tier. Right call unless your procurement RFP requires cited Fortune-500 references.

#2 Award Force

Pricing published

10-year incumbent. Strong track record. PWA-only mobile, AI in private VPC.

Starting price
$3,125/yr (Growth) · $6,250/yr (Pro) · Premier custom
Per-event fee
0% per entry · 0% per admin seat
Best for
Mid-to-upper-market awards programs that require a cited 10-year vendor track record and don't mind PWA-only judging.
Strengths
  • 10+ years operating with cited Fortune-500-grade customer references
  • 0% per-entry, 0% per-admin-seat — matches Aclamos here
  • Published pricing (rare among the awards incumbents)
  • Mature, stable feature set — most things work the way the docs say they do
  • Strong community + training resources
Weaknesses
  • PWA-only judging app (no native iOS / Android)
  • AI Fields runs in private VPC — gated to Pro+ and not as deeply integrated as a Claude-API-first stack
  • No Open Badges 3.0 / Ed25519-signed verifiable credentials
  • Brand + custom domain gated to Pro tier (~2x Growth's price)
Verdict: Pick Award Force if your buyer can't accept a pre-launch vendor and you don't need native mobile or AI Show Director. The pricing premium for brand + custom domain is the most common reason buyers consider switching.

#3 Submittable

Demo-walled

Foundation grant programs' default. Per-submission % skim. Pricing removed from website in 2025.

Starting price
"Custom plans" — pricing removed from website in 2025; legacy ~$84-99/mo Basic, $10,000+/yr Pro
Per-event fee
$0.99 + 5% per paid submission
Best for
Foundation grant programs with deep Salesforce / iMIS integration where Submittable's grant-management feature set is purpose-built.
Strengths
  • Best-in-category for foundation grant intake workflow
  • Strong Salesforce / iMIS / Higher Logic ecosystem integration
  • Review AI shipped May 2025 (auto-summary / scoring assist)
  • Cited foundation customer roster
Weaknesses
  • Pricing removed from website in 2025 — you can't see what you'll pay without a sales call
  • $0.99 + 5% per paid submission on top of subscription
  • Hard cap on concurrent reviewers (cited Capterra complaint)
  • Vanity email domains require third-party tools
  • No native mobile judging app
Verdict: Right call only if you're a foundation grant program. For any other awards use case, the per-submission skim and the demo-walled pricing make better-priced alternatives the default.

#4 OpenWater

Demo-walled

Association incumbent. Per-program AND per-admin-seat pricing. Aging UI.

Starting price
From $6,900/yr base ($4,900/program + $2,000/admin seat)
Per-event fee
0% per entry · ~$2,000/yr per admin seat
Best for
Associations already running 10+ programs on iMIS / Higher Logic / Fonteva with deep AMS dependencies and the migration cost outweighs the savings.
Strengths
  • Deepest association-AMS integration depth in the category
  • Mature multi-program tooling for associations running 20+ programs/yr
  • Cited association reference customers
Weaknesses
  • Per-program AND per-admin-seat pricing — costs scale punishingly with team size
  • No published pricing
  • UI repeatedly cited as 'dated' in Capterra reviews
  • No spreadsheet bulk-edit — coordinators forced to edit nominations row by row (cited #1 OpenWater complaint)
  • No AI suite, no Open Badges, no native mobile judging
Verdict: OpenWater wins on association-AMS integration depth and loses on everything else. The per-admin-seat fee is the hidden cost most buyers underestimate at signing.

#5 Evalato

Pricing published

Per-program pricing. EU-region-friendly. 0% per entry.

Starting price
€1,900/yr Grow · €4,900/yr Pro
Per-event fee
0% per entry
Best for
EU-based programs running 1-3 separately-licensed awards events per year that don't need bundled multi-show pricing.
Strengths
  • Published pricing in EUR
  • 0% per-entry fee
  • EU-region hosting available
  • Solid mid-tier feature set
Weaknesses
  • Per-program licensing — multi-show is per-program, not bundled
  • No native mobile judging app
  • Limited AI features
  • No published Open Badges support
Verdict: Reasonable EU-region middle-of-the-pack option. Aclamos Growth (5 shows bundled at $199/mo) wins economically once you're running more than one program/yr.

#6 Reviewr

Demo-walled

Demo-led mid-market. Auto-COI detection is the standout.

Starting price
≈$5,100/yr (demo-led)
Per-event fee
—
Best for
Programs that want auto-conflict-of-interest detection and don't mind demo-walled pricing.
Strengths
  • Auto-COI detection (rare in the category)
  • Solid mid-market feature set
Weaknesses
  • Demo-walled pricing
  • No public Open Badges support
  • No native mobile judging app
  • Smaller cited customer pool
Verdict: Niche pick if auto-COI is your hard requirement. For most use cases, Award Force or Aclamos cover the same ground at published pricing.

#7 Zealous

Pricing published

UK-first creative-arts indie favourite. £29/mo + per-submission skim.

Starting price
Free / £29/mo Starter / £692/yr Enterprise
Per-event fee
2.2% + 20p per paid submission (£5 cap)
Best for
UK / EU creative-arts indie producers running open calls under 100 paid submissions/yr.
Strengths
  • Cheapest entry point at £29/mo
  • Strong UK creative-arts community
  • Published pricing
  • 30+ entry-form locales
Weaknesses
  • Per-submission skim (Aclamos: 0%)
  • Brand + custom domain gated to £692/yr Enterprise
  • No AI suite
  • No native mobile judging app
  • No public REST API
Verdict: Best choice for very-small-volume UK creative-arts indies; Aclamos Solo at $79/mo wins above ~100 paid submissions/yr or once you need brand + custom domain.

#8 Judgify

Pricing published

One-event-per-year specialists. $699/event flat. 3.5% skim.

Starting price
Free / $699 per event / $2,399/yr Pro Unlimited
Per-event fee
3.5% on entry fees
Best for
Producers running exactly one award event per year with a hard $699 ceiling.
Strengths
  • Published pricing
  • Generous free tier for very small events
  • 30+ entry-form locales
  • One-time-payment ($699/event) instead of subscription
Weaknesses
  • 3.5% per-entry skim
  • No AI features
  • No native mobile judging app
  • No Open Badges, no calibration scoring
Verdict: Worth comparing against Aclamos Single Season ($499 one-time, 250 submissions, 6 months active) — the math usually favours Aclamos once you count the per-entry skim.

When NOT to pick Aclamos

We built Aclamos and we ranked ourselves first. That's a flag. Here's when one of the others is honestly the right call:

  • Your procurement RFP requires cited Fortune-500-grade reference customers. Aclamos is pre-launch; Award Force has 10+ years of cited customers and OpenWater has association references at scale. We won't bluff this.
  • You need on-prem deployment. Aclamos is cloud-only by strategic design. Some Award Force / OpenWater enterprise contracts include on-prem; if it's a hard requirement, pick one of those.
  • You're running a foundation grant program with deep Submittable workflow customization. Submittable is purpose-built for grant intake. Aclamos covers it but Submittable's grant-specific UX is more polished.
  • You need a free tier with a generous voter-count ceiling. ElectionBuddy and OpaVote both offer free tiers above ours for very small one-off votes.
  • You're running <100 paid submissions per year on a hard budget. Zealous (£29/mo + per-submission skim) and Judgify (free tier + $699/event) are honestly cheaper at that scale; Aclamos Solo at $79/mo wins above ~100 paid submissions/yr.
